First step is probably the hardest. You will need to get at least 5 modelers together to form the beginnings of the Chapter. You can check out the How To Boost Your Chapter in the chapter resources section to get some ideas. Once you have the minimum five builders that are not all ready affiliated with another IPMS chapter you can move on to the next step.

The next thing you will want to do is get everyone signed up as IPMS members. If you have more than five you only need the five to be members, but hey IPMS membership is great so why not get everyone to join?

Now that everyone has that great thing called an IPMS number, you now need to hold elections for officers. Someone needs to able to be listed for the following: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Chapter Contact. Now, one person can be listed as more than one office as long as you have the five IPMS members. You can use some members at large to qualify.

Once all that is settled you need to fill out the form, available from the ever so helpful Regional Coordinator, and send it in along with the annual $20 charter fee.

Once all that is done you start getting the benefits. Like a nice charter to hang up, listed on the IPMS website, and of coarse this web site. You can also receive the insurance in the event that you hold an event.
