From The Region 3 Coordinator's Bench:

Hello Region Three

I hope all of you had a wonderful and safe Fourth of July weekend.  Just a note about the recent show in Atlanta.  Hats off to James Corley and his guys for another great show.  I believe they told me that they had over 560 models and had sold 100 plus vendor tables.  Great job guys.

Now introducing a new concept in regional newsletters:  The Adventures of Kaptain Koordinator and his trusty sidekick Roxie the Kat.  In our premier episode, we find meek mild mannered Philemon Hallis working feverously on his next modeling project.  For some strange reason, Philemon is trying to mix Tamiya liquid cement with casting resin when the expected happens.  Kaboom, Zap, Pow........screams of agony.......and not over a ruined model.  In the next scene, we find our hero on his way to the emergency room with his wife giving him "down the road" for being so stupid.  Philemon is treated for minor burns on his hands but he finds that he has lost all of the hair on his head.  Not to worry, there wasn't much in the first place.  He is released from the hospital with orders to never attempt home chemistry again.  However, many days later when Philemon removes the bandages he finds a strange after effect.  As he removes the bandages, he is nearly blinded by the strange glow from his now totally bald head.  The strange mixture of casting resin and Tamiya cement plus being zapped by his work lights has mutated our hero into something even more strange than normal.  That is saying something.  Quickly replacing the bandages as not to blind anyone in his family, Philemon retreats to his basement to explore the possibilities of his newly found powers.  Suddenly our hero remembers that Roxie the Kat was lying on the floor close to his workbench before the nasty accident.  He wonders if Roxie has developed some sort of super power as well........thinking takes a lot out of Philemon as we'll see later on............
And now a word from our Sponsors:  IPMS/USA Liability Insurance

Are you tired of not knowing whether your club is covered with IPMS/USA Liability Insurance?  Tired of asking your friends and family questions that they can't answer?  Do you ever wonder why you never see an IPMS/USA commercial on television..........Well, have we got a deal for you!

Your club must be the sponsor of any event for you to receive coverage under the IPMS/USA Insurance Policy.  That means if you want to host a model show, make and take, or any other type event, your group MUST be the primary sponsor of said event.  If you are co-hosting with another IPMS chapter there is not problem.  Anyone listed on the flyer as host must be an IPMS/USA Chapter.  Does that mean you can't have a show at a museum?  No, you can have the show at any museum but the said museum CAN NOT be listed as a/the host.  In other words, the museum can not take part in planning or executing the show other than providing the facility.  Should you have any questions concerning this type of coverage, you can call 24 hours a day at 1-800-ripthatstupidlittlegeckosheadoff.

Now back to our show:

Philemon found Roxie and on the outside she looked normal but as Philemon was putting her down, he accidently stepped on her tail.  In typical female fashion, with her paws placed firmly on her hips, she gave Philemon "down the road" for being so stupid and clumsy.  Needless to say Philemon was dumbfounded as he had never been chewed out by a cat in his life.  It took him several hours to realize that Roxie could talk.   WOW, a talking cat!!!!!!  Philemon immediately thought that he could make some more money with a talking cat.  Roxie put that to rest quickly when she absolutely refused to sing Suwannee River like Al Jolson.  As we leave our hero, he and Roxie are engaged a heated conversation concerning their new found super powers and for Roxie this is like dueling with an unarmed man........

And now another word from our Sponsors:

Are you tired of not knowing what's going on in the intriguing world of IPMS?USA?  Tired of asking your modeling buddies if they know when is the next show or who won chapter of the year?  Tired of those unusually blank stares when you ask them anything?  Well, you're in luck friend, have we got a deal for you!  Try reading the adventures of Kaptain Koordinator and Roxie in the RC3Regional Comics.  This is published on a monthly basis and is made available to every Chapter Contact in Region 3.  They should have all the information you need to have a happy and healthy modeling experience.  Remember, that is RC3Regional Comics, freely given to all Chapter Contacts and dealers near you.
Just a sneak preview:

The following is a pained political annoucement:  Steps to receive the official okey dokey or the Hungarian Southern Baptist Papel Pentecostal Blessing for your modeling event are very simple, so simple a modeler can do it.  Step one:  Check with the Regional Coordinator and make sure the date will not conflict with another show in your area.  This step is vital otherwise you will not have RC approval and the process will grind to a stop.  Step b:  Once you have RC approval, go to the IPMS/USA web site, click on Upcoming Events on the left side of the page.  This will bring up the Upcoming Events page and at the top of the page you will find in big bold letters " Chapter Event Registration".  Click on this and it will bring up the actual Event Registration Form".  Just fill in the blanks and when complete, hit the submit button and sit back, relax, read a book, build a model, take a nap or a dump for now your job is done.  Whew.......see that wasn't so bad.  It would be better if you could read but what the heck, you did it.   Now comes the tricky part.......this part takes some amount of memory so you may have to enlist some aid here.  Have you got a talking cat?  No, well try it yourself.......but be careful........ Sixty days from the date of your event, you'll need to fill out the insurance request form and email it to Mary Jane at the National Office.  How do I find the insurance form, you ask?  Well, it is almost as simple as opening a model kit:  Step a:  Go to the IPMS/USA web site and click on "Member Services".  Step 2:  When the member services page comes up, click on "Chapter Event Insurance".  There is no form but Mary Jane has listed the info that she will need to request a copy of the policy.  Send MJ an email with the required info and again sit back and exlax..........uh relax.  Now, your job is done and give your little brain a well deserved rest.  Now, that wasn't too very very hard was it?

In the next stirring episode, we find Philemon and Roxie still engaged in a heated discussion concerning the use of their super powers.  Don't touch that dail, stay turned, same Koordinator Time, same Koordinator
channel.   And now Roxie, tell our viewers about the coming events in Region 3:  Meow, meow, meow, meooooooow.
